Do you know who flew the plane in the Sky King series of TV shows? How many different "Songbird" planes were there? What happened to the "missing episodes"? What did Kirby Grant do after the TV series ended? Did you know Kirby Grant was a singer and a concert violinist? Sky King began in the late 1950s.Those of us of a certain age grew up with theshow. The old black and white TV series inspired a lot of aviation careers, from pilots and flight instructors to airline pilots to NASA astronauts. I had the personal pleasure of meeting and getting to know Kirby Grant and his wife after they retired to Central Florida in 1971. After his heart surgery in 1978, Kirby Grant spoke to me about the book he was "writing", taking the title "Out of the Blue" from the iconic opening of the television show. It was only much later after Kirby's passing in 1986 that I learned from his wife, Carolyn Grant, that the "book" had existed only in Kirby's mind and good intentions. This book is the long over due fulfillment of a promise to Carolyn Grant. Even if you are too young to remember the show, you will find this book an interesting journey into the early years of television history as you get to know one of its heroes.

;What If... Sci-Fi and Paranormal Short Stories (Vol 1) My take on science fiction involves blurring the lines between fiction and non-fiction by incorporating real-life facts. Rather than crawling down rabbit holes, I harvest and recycle them. You might even find yourself reading something you think is fiction but isn't. What sets my science fiction writing apart is the inclusion of real scientific references, sometimes accompanied by footnotes. A quote I cherish from Mary T. Lathrap's old poem, "Walk a Mile in His Moccasins," speaks to this approach: "By walking in the shoes of a fictional character, by seeing through the eyes of the characters, the reader gains a different perspective. If we're lucky, that perspective teaches us a lesson in real life." This short story anthology delves into the boundaries between science fiction and reality. Come for the fiction, stay for the science!
;What If... Sci-Fi and Paranormal Short Stories (Vol 1)
I have my own take on science fiction. I often like to blur the lines between science fiction and non-fiction by weaving in some real-life facts. I don't crawl down rabbit holes; I harvest and recycle them. On the other hand, you might read something you think is fiction but isn't. One thing that is different about my science fiction writing is that I make reference to real science and sometimes include footnotes.
There's a quote I like from a very old poem by Mary T. Lathrap, Walk a Mile in His Moccasins: "By walking in the shoes of a fictional character, by seeing through the eyes of the characters, the reader gains a different perspective. If we're lucky, that perspective teaches us a lesson in real life."
This short story anthology explores the boundaries of science fiction and reality.
Come for the fiction, stay for the science!
